The Use of Macerated Garlic (Allium Sativum L.) Oil in Preventing the Postoperative Adhesions in Rats

In the present study, efficiency of intra-abdominal use macerated oil obtained from Taşköprü Garlic (Kastamonu/Türkiye), which is one products with geographical indication-from European Union, in preventing postoperative adhesions. The chemical structure macerated-oil, prepared using fresh-garlic at a concentration 1.2 g/ml olive oil, was analyzed by spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods. vivo experiments, Wistar Albino rats (n=8) were applied cecal abrasion under general anesthesia. Abrasion zone treated physiological saline solution control group (K) different doses (0.5-1 ml) study groups-(S1 S2). Macroscopic-adhesion-scoring-(MAS) between 0-4 performed for all subjects on days 3-28. After staining tissue-samples, taken found to have adhesion, histopathological adhesion scoring (HAS) 0 3. On day 3, detected subjects. adhesions reached MAS-2 level K MAS 1 S1 S2. 28, no observed S1-S2, whereas remained MAS-2. Moreover, HAS be HAS-1 S2-K 3 it HAS-2 subjects, where formation continued, 28. As result, garlic-macerated-oil, soaking fresh garlic time, low cost effective agent prevention, will easily produced clinicians.
